Healing the broken

Healing after being broken

Here’s a daily rhythm that integrates your relationship with God, your emotional healing, your physical well-being, and rebuilding trust with others.

Morning (5:30–7:30 AM) – Surrender to God

  1. Begin with prayer (10–15 minutes):
    • Thank God for His mercy.
    • Confess any known sin.
    • Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts, words, and actions.
    • Pray for the people you have hurt.
  2. Read Scripture (20–30 minutes):
    • Start with Psalms, Proverbs, and one Gospel.
    • Ask:
      • What does this teach me about God?
      • What does this reveal about me?
      • What must I obey today?
  3. Journal (15 minutes):
    • Three things you’re grateful for.
    • One area where you need God’s help today.
    • One relationship you want to honor today.
  4. Exercise (30–45 minutes):
    • Walk, cycle, stretch, or do strength training.
    • Care for your body as a gift from God.

During the Day – Live Intentionally

Before every important conversation, pause and ask:

  • Is it true?
  • Is it kind?
  • Is it necessary?
  • Is it loving?

Practice:

  • Speak less.
  • Listen more.
  • Keep every promise you make.
  • Be punctual.
  • Be honest, even when it’s uncomfortable.
  • Serve someone without expecting anything in return.

Relationships

Each day:

  • Pray for one person you’ve hurt.
  • If appropriate, make one step toward reconciliation—not to force forgiveness, but to show humility and responsibility.
  • Respect boundaries if someone needs space.

Work

Work with integrity:

  • Focus on today’s responsibilities.
  • Finish what you start.
  • Avoid distractions.
  • Let your work reflect your character.

Evening (7:00–9:00 PM)

Spend 20–30 minutes reflecting:

Ask yourself:

  • Where did I honor God today?
  • Where did I fail?
  • Did I speak truth?
  • Was I patient?
  • Did I love well?
  • What do I need to confess?
  • What can I do better tomorrow?

Pray again:

  • Thank God.
  • Confess.
  • Forgive those who hurt you.
  • Receive God’s grace.
  • Sleep with a clear conscience.

Weekly Rhythms

Each week:

  • Attend church and worship with other believers.
  • Meet with a trusted Christian mentor or accountability partner.
  • Spend an extended time in prayer and reflection.
  • Serve others in a practical way.
  • Take one period of rest from unnecessary work and technology to focus on God and relationships.

Daily Priorities

Keep these in order:

  1. God.
  2. Character.
  3. Family and those closest to you.
  4. Meaningful work.
  5. Service to others.
  6. Rest.

When these priorities stay in order, decisions become clearer.

Finally, remember the words of 3:22–23:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great
