4 of 8 — The Turning
In the late summer of a life well underway,
where effort has shaped something visible,
I begin to feel the quiet shift—
not an ending, but a turning.
It is afternoon now,
the sun leaning west,
its light still strong but softened,
stretching shadows longer than before.
The air is heavy,
a distant rumble of thunder gathering its voice,
clouds forming with intention—
no longer scattered, but purposeful.
This is the season of reflection within motion,
of asking not just what am I building,
but what is it building in me.
My mind is open,
but no longer chasing everything—
it selects, it refines,
it begins to understand the cost of every yes.
My heart is open,
though it carries memory now—
joy that has deepened it,
and weight that has shaped its tenderness.
And my hands—
they are still full,
but they loosen, just slightly,
learning that holding too tightly
can break what was meant to last.
There is tension in the air,
not fear, but awareness—
a knowing that change is not coming…
it is already here.
In this gathering sky,
this restless, waiting light,
I am learning the quiet strength
of letting go
even while I continue to build.
