The 90-Day Life Plan
We can read a book and feel inspired.
We can underline sentences, write notes in the margins and tell ourselves that things are going to change.
But inspiration is not transformation.
Transformation happens when what we understand becomes what we practise.
That is why The Three Things That Matter does not end with discovering the three principles. The real journey begins when we take those principles and bring them into our everyday lives.
For the next 90 days, the challenge is simple:
Don’t just know what matters. Live what matters.
You don’t need to change your entire life overnight. You don’t need to become a completely different person.
You simply need to start making different choices—one day at a time.
This 90-day plan is designed to help you move from awareness, to practice, to alignment.
The First 30 Days: Discover What Matters
The first month is about awareness.
Before we can change the direction of our lives, we need to understand where we are going—and whether the way we are currently living reflects what we say matters to us.
Week One: Stop and Look
Start by looking honestly at your life.
Ask yourself why you are doing this journey. What matters most to you? Where are you spending your time? What is receiving your attention?
We often say that certain things are important to us, but our calendars, bank accounts and daily habits can tell a very different story.
For seven days, simply observe.
Where does your time go?
What occupies your thoughts?
What receives your attention?
What doesn’t really matter but continues to consume your life?
You cannot change what you are unwilling to see.
Week Two: Look at Your Relationships
The people we love are often the things that matter most, yet relationships can easily become victims of busy lives.
Use this week to reconnect.
Tell someone that they matter.
Have a conversation without your phone in your hand.
Listen instead of preparing your response.
Contact someone you’ve been meaning to contact.
And perhaps most importantly, ask yourself:
Who deserves more of me?
Because sometimes love isn’t about giving someone more things.
It is about giving them more of you.
Week Three: Look at Yourself
What matters is not only about the world around us.
It is also about the person we are becoming.
Ask yourself:
Who am I?
What are my values?
What are my strengths?
Where do I need to grow?
What experiences have shaped me?
And perhaps the most important question:
Am I living according to my values, or merely according to my circumstances?
Your circumstances may influence your life, but they don’t have to define it.
Week Four: Simplify
We live in a world that constantly tells us we need more.
More possessions.
More money.
More experiences.
More followers.
More recognition.
More success.
But sometimes the path to a better life isn’t about adding something.
It is about removing something.
Remove one unnecessary commitment.
Say no to something that doesn’t deserve your time.
Create some space away from technology.
Clear something physical from your environment.
Spend time in silence.
Look at where your money is going.
Then ask:
Does the way I am living reflect what I say matters?
At the end of Day 30, stop and reflect.
What have you discovered?
Days 31–60: Start Living the Principles
The first month was about seeing.
The second month is about doing.
This is where the three things that matter begin to move from ideas into behaviour.
Week Five: Live Intentionally
Don’t allow every day simply to happen to you.
Start each day by identifying what matters most.
Do the important thing before the unimportant thing.
Give people your attention.
Protect time for the things that matter.
Stop multitasking.
Slow down.
You will discover something powerful:
Being busy and being productive are not the same thing.
A full calendar does not necessarily mean a meaningful life.
Week Six: Give More
One of the greatest ways to discover what matters is to stop making life entirely about yourself.
Give someone your time.
Give encouragement.
Help someone without expecting anything in return.
Serve.
Share.
Say thank you.
Look for opportunities to make someone else’s day better.
Because a meaningful life is rarely measured only by what we accumulate.
It is also measured by what we contribute.
Ask yourself:
What happens when I stop asking, “What can I get?” and start asking, “What can I give?”
Week Seven: Strengthen What Matters
Relationships don’t survive on good intentions.
They require investment.
Spend time with your family.
Reconnect with a friend.
Listen to someone.
Take a step toward peace in a difficult relationship.
Show love through your actions.
And ask yourself a very simple question:
Would the people I love know that they matter to me?
Don’t assume they know.
Tell them.
Show them.
Be present with them.
Week Eight: Become the Person
The principles we believe in become meaningful when they influence our character.
Choose integrity.
Do the right thing when nobody is watching.
Be courageous enough to face something you’ve been avoiding.
Keep a promise you made to yourself.
Take responsibility.
Learn something new.
Let go of resentment.
Practise gratitude.
And then ask:
What am I teaching other people through the way I live?
Our lives are always teaching.
The question is: What are we teaching?
At Day 60, stop again.
Look back over the previous two months.
What has changed?
What feels different?
What are you doing differently?
Days 61–90: Align Your Life With What Matters
The final month is about alignment.
It is about bringing your choices, your time, your relationships and your future into alignment with what you have discovered.
You are no longer simply completing exercises.
You are deciding what kind of life you want to live.
Week Nine: Reorder Your Life
Write your three things down again.
Then look at your calendar.
Does it reflect them?
Look at your relationships.
Are you investing in the people who matter?
Look at your work.
Does it reflect your values?
Look at your health.
Are you taking care of the body that carries you through life?
Look at your mind.
What thoughts are receiving your attention?
Then ask:
What needs to change?
Week Ten: Choose
Every day, make an intentional choice.
Choose presence.
Choose love.
Choose gratitude.
Choose courage.
Choose forgiveness.
Choose simplicity.
Life is made up of choices.
Some are enormous.
Most are incredibly small.
But those small choices, repeated day after day, eventually become our lives.
So ask yourself:
What am I choosing differently now?
Week Eleven: Think About What You Leave Behind
Eventually, we all leave.
The question isn’t whether we will leave something behind.
The question is:
What will we leave behind?
Think about your influence.
Who is better because you were part of their life?
What will people remember about you?
Are your words building people up?
Are your actions consistent with your beliefs?
What do you want your life to stand for?
And if you could give something to the world that was uniquely yours, what would it be?
This isn’t simply about legacy.
It is about significance.
Week Twelve: Live It
By now, the challenge should no longer feel like a challenge.
It should begin to feel like a way of living.
Don’t wait for tomorrow to do something meaningful.
Tell someone you love them.
Make the phone call.
Take the step toward the dream.
Be grateful for what you already have.
Give someone your complete attention.
Give something meaningful to somebody else.
And celebrate the fact that you have spent 90 days becoming more intentional about your life.
Day 90: The Most Important Question
On the 90th day, find somewhere quiet.
Put your phone away.
Sit with yourself.
Then answer these questions honestly:
What have I learned?
What has changed in me?
What matters most to me now?
What am I no longer willing to give my life to?
Who matters most to me?
What do I want my life to stand for?
What do I need to do differently?
And finally, ask the question at the heart of this entire journey:
What are the three things that matter most to me—and will my life prove it?
Because knowing what matters is only the beginning.
The real measure is whether our lives demonstrate it.
After the 90 Days
The 90 days are not the finish line.
They are the beginning of a different way of living.
You don’t need a complicated system to continue.
Every morning, ask yourself:
What matters most today?
Who matters most today?
What is one thing I can do today that reflects the person I want to be?
And every evening, ask:
Did I live according to what matters?
Did I give my attention to the right things?
What will I do differently tomorrow?
Five minutes can be enough to bring your life back into focus.
Don’t Just Read the Book. Live It.
There is a difference between reading about a meaningful life and living one.
We can know what matters and still spend our lives chasing things that don’t.
We can say that relationships matter and still be too busy to be present.
We can say that our health matters and continue to neglect it.
We can say that our purpose matters and continue to postpone it.
At some point, knowledge has to become action.
That is what the 90-day challenge is about.
Small choices.
Every day.
Repeated consistently.
Because a meaningful life is rarely created in one dramatic moment.
It is created in the ordinary moments when we decide what deserves our time, our attention, our energy and our love.
And perhaps that is the greatest lesson of The Three Things That Matter:
You don’t have to change everything.
You simply have to stop giving everything equal importance.
Discover what matters.
Choose what matters.
Protect what matters.
Give yourself to what matters.
And then live your life in such a way that, when you look back, you can honestly say:
I spent my life on the things that truly mattered.
