Telepathy: The Open Mind. The Open Hand. The Open Heart – Book.
By Gerald Crawford
1. What is your new book, Telepathy, really about?
Answer:
When people hear the word telepathy, they often think about reading somebody else’s mind. My book looks at telepathy from a much broader and more human perspective.
At its heart, the book is about connection. It asks whether we can become so present, aware and open to another person that we begin to understand what they are communicating without everything needing to be spoken.
The journey in the book moves through three ideas: the Open Mind, the Open Hand and the Open Heart. It is about becoming more aware of ourselves, more available to others, and ultimately more deeply connected to life.
2. Why did you choose the title Telepathy?
Answer:
Because I believe we communicate far more than we realise.
We communicate through our words, but also through our facial expressions, our energy, our silence, our body language, our emotions and our presence.
Have you ever walked into a room and immediately sensed that something was wrong, even though nobody had said anything? Or thought about someone just before they called you?
Those experiences make us ask interesting questions about human connection.
I wanted to explore those questions without telling people what they must believe. The book invites the reader to become curious.
3. Are you saying that telepathy is real?
Answer:
I’m saying that there is much more to human communication than spoken language.
I deliberately don’t want the book to become an argument about whether someone can literally transmit a thought from one mind to another. Instead, I’m interested in what happens when we become deeply present and receptive.
Sometimes we know someone is struggling before they tell us. Sometimes we can sense when someone is genuinely happy, frightened or uncomfortable.
Whether we call that intuition, empathy, emotional awareness or something else, the experience of connection is very real.
4. What does “The Open Mind” mean?
Answer:
An open mind is the willingness to question what we think we know.
We all carry assumptions, beliefs, judgments and experiences that shape the way we see the world.
If my mind is already closed, I don’t really listen to you. I’m simply waiting for you to confirm what I already believe.
An open mind says, “Tell me something I don’t know.”
And that changes relationships, conversations and ultimately the way we experience life.
5. And what does “The Open Hand” represent?
Answer:
The Open Hand is about giving, receiving and letting go.
We often want to control people, situations and outcomes. We hold on to expectations, resentment, fear and even relationships that have already served their purpose.
The open hand represents a different way of living.
It says: I can give without demanding. I can receive without feeling guilty. And I can let go without believing that letting go means I have lost.
There is freedom in an open hand.
6. Why is the “Open Heart” so important?
Answer:
Because ultimately, connection requires vulnerability.
You cannot truly connect with another human being while constantly protecting yourself from being seen.
An open heart doesn’t mean being naïve. It doesn’t mean allowing everyone to hurt you. It means being willing to experience love, compassion, forgiveness, gratitude and genuine human connection.
I believe many people are surrounded by people but still feel profoundly alone.
The open heart is an invitation to reconnect — first with ourselves, then with other people.
7. What role does intuition play in the book?
Answer:
A very important one.
Intuition is something many people experience but don’t always trust.
We sometimes get a feeling about a person, a situation or a decision. Then our logical mind starts arguing with that feeling.
The book encourages us to become more aware of those subtle signals.
But awareness also requires discernment. Not every feeling is intuition. Sometimes fear disguises itself as intuition, and sometimes past experiences influence what we think we’re sensing.
So the goal isn’t simply to “trust your gut.” The goal is to become sufficiently self-aware to understand where your feelings are coming from.
8. Can telepathy improve our relationships?
Answer:
Absolutely — if we understand telepathy as deep connection and awareness.
Imagine being genuinely present when someone speaks to you rather than thinking about what you’re going to say next.
Imagine noticing when your partner’s smile doesn’t match how they’re actually feeling.
Imagine being able to sit with someone in silence without needing to fill the space with words.
That level of awareness can transform relationships.
Sometimes the most powerful communication isn’t what we say.
It’s what we are willing to notice.
9. What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
Answer:
I hope they become more aware.
More aware of themselves.
More aware of other people.
More aware of the energy they bring into a room.
More aware of what they are communicating without words.
And perhaps most importantly, I hope they become more open.
An open mind.
An open hand.
An open heart.
Because when we become more open, we don’t simply change the way we communicate.
We change the way we experience life.
10. If you could leave listeners with one message from the book, what would it be?
Answer:
I would say: slow down and become present.
We live in a world where everybody is talking, but very few people are truly listening.
We are constantly connected through technology, yet many people are disconnected emotionally.
So perhaps the greatest form of telepathy isn’t learning how to read somebody’s mind.
Perhaps it is learning how to be fully present with another human being.
Look at them. Listen to them. Feel what is happening. Put down the distractions. Open your mind. Open your hand. Open your heart.
You may discover that we have been communicating with each other all along.
