Be Who You Truly Are
There comes a moment in life when we have to stop asking, “Who does the world want me to be?” and begin asking, “Who am I truly?”
So much of life can be spent becoming a version of ourselves that is acceptable to others. We learn how to behave, what to say, what to hide, what to suppress, and even what parts of ourselves we are allowed to express.
Eventually, we can become very good at being someone we are not.
A counterfeit.
But there is something inside us that knows.
Deep within the body, beyond the noise of the mind, there is an awareness that says, This is not me.
The solar plexus can be experienced as a powerful centre of personal presence, instinct and embodied awareness. Instead of living entirely in our thoughts, we can learn to come back into the body—to breathe, to feel, to notice what is happening within us.
Be here.
Feel your life.
Feel your breath.
Feel your presence.
And then ask yourself:
What would my life look like if I stopped pretending?
The world does not need another carefully constructed version of you. It does not need your mask, your performance or your imitation of what you think you should be.
The world needs you.
Your particular experience.
Your wisdom.
Your compassion.
Your mistakes.
Your scars.
Your laughter.
Your questions.
Your capacity to love.
Your unique way of seeing this extraordinary experience called life.
There is only one you.
And perhaps one of the great lessons of this journey is learning to have the courage to become fully that person.
Not arrogantly.
Not selfishly.
But authentically.
Jesus said, “The truth will set you free.” — John 8:32.
Perhaps that freedom begins with being truthful with ourselves.
So step forward.
Come out from behind the version of yourself you created to survive.
Return to your body.
Return to your breath.
Return to your awareness.
And slowly, courageously, become who you truly are.
The world needs more of you now—not a counterfeit.
Step forward.
Be who you truly are.
