God

Week 1 – Self-examination, repentance, surrender, inner transformation, and walking closely with God.

Those passages all center on a common theme:

Here are other Scriptures that carry the same message:

Self-Examination

  • Lamentations 3:40 – “Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.”
  • 2 Corinthians 13:5 – “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.”
  • James 1:22–25 – God’s Word is like a mirror that reveals our true condition.

Repentance

  • Acts 3:19 – “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.”
  • Joel 2:12–13 – “Return to me with all your heart… Rend your heart and not your garments.”
  • Isaiah 55:6–7 – Seek the Lord, forsake wicked ways, and He will freely pardon.

Confession and Forgiveness

  • Psalm 32:1–5 – David describes the freedom that comes after confessing sin.
  • Isaiah 1:18 – “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
  • Hebrews 4:15–16 – We can confidently approach God’s throne to receive mercy and grace.

Renewal of the Heart and Mind

  • Ezekiel 36:26–27 – God promises a new heart and a new spirit.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”
  • Ephesians 4:22–24 – Put off the old self and be renewed in the spirit of your minds.
  • Colossians 3:9–10 – Put on the new self, renewed in the image of its Creator.
  • Philippians 2:5 – “Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.”

Surrender and Obedience

  • Luke 9:23 – “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
  • Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
  • James 4:7–10 – Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil, humble yourselves, and He will lift you up.

Pursuing Holiness

  • Hebrews 12:14 – “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.”
  • 1 Peter 1:15–16 – “Be holy, because I am holy.”
  • Micah 6:8 – “Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”

Walking by the Spirit

  • Galatians 5:16–25 – Walk by the Spirit, not by the flesh; cultivate the fruit of the Spirit.
  • John 15:4–5 – Abide in Christ, for apart from Him you can do nothing.
  • Ephesians 5:8–10 – Live as children of light and discern what pleases the Lord.

Together, these passages form a powerful discipleship journey:

  1. Invite God to search your heart (Psalm 139:23–24).
  2. Repent sincerely (Psalm 51; Joel 2:12–13).
  3. Confess your sins and receive forgiveness (1 John 1:9; Psalm 32).
  4. Turn away from sin and toward God (Proverbs 28:13; Acts 3:19).
  5. Renew your mind through God’s Word (Romans 12:1–2; Ephesians 4:22–24).
  6. Surrender your life daily to Christ (Luke 9:23; Galatians 2:20).
  7. Walk by the Holy Spirit in obedience and holiness (Galatians 5:16–25; John 15:4–5).

These Scriptures complement one another beautifully and provide a biblical foundation for ongoing spiritual growth, repentance, renewal, and faithful discipleship.
