Important questions

OThe quality of your life is often shaped by the quality of the questions you ask. Wise questions help you grow in character, deepen your relationships, and align your life with God’s purpose.

Here are some important questions to ask throughout life:

About yourself

  • Who am I, beyond my job, possessions, or achievements?
  • What kind of person am I becoming?
  • What are my greatest strengths and weaknesses?
  • What fears are controlling my decisions?
  • What beliefs do I need to let go of?
  • Am I living according to my values or according to other people’s expectations?

About purpose

  • Why am I here?
  • What has God called me to do?
  • What gifts and talents have I been given?
  • How can I serve others with my life?
  • What legacy do I want to leave behind?

About relationships

  • Do the people around me make me more loving, truthful, and wise?
  • Am I loving others the way I want to be loved?
  • Have I forgiven those who hurt me?
  • Am I trustworthy?
  • Do I listen to understand, or only to respond?
  • Who truly celebrates my success?

About character

  • Am I honest when no one is watching?
  • What habits are shaping my future?
  • Do I choose love over fear?
  • Am I humble enough to learn?
  • Am I becoming more patient, kind, and compassionate?

About faith

  • Do I love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength? (Mark 12:30)
  • Do I trust God even when I don’t understand?
  • Is my faith changing the way I live?
  • Am I seeking God’s will or merely asking Him to bless my plans?
  • Am I growing in the fruit of the Spirit? (Galatians 5:22–23)

About time

  • Am I spending my time on what matters most?
  • If today were my last day, would I have any regrets?
  • What am I postponing that I should begin today?
  • Am I investing in things that will last?

About growth

  • What lesson is this season of life teaching me?
  • What do I need to stop doing?
  • What do I need to start doing?
  • Where am I making excuses instead of taking responsibility?
  • How can I become a better person today than I was yesterday?

About the future

  • What kind of life am I building?
  • What would I do if fear no longer controlled me?
  • What impact will my life have on others?
  • Will my choices today move me closer to the life God intends for me?

Jesus asked one of the most profound questions in Scripture:

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)

That question reminds us that success without character, wealth without love, and achievement without God ultimately leave us empty. A meaningful life is not measured by what we accumulate, but by who we become, how we love, and whether we faithfully follow Christ.
