Sue was a clever girl, she was a smart girl, and she had been collecting interesting objects and mementos from travelers who would sometimes stumble upon the secret garden and maybe stay for a while. She had a big, old, beautifully detailed crafted globe of the world that she used to plan their adventures. Sue would spin the globe, close her eyes, and point to a random place. Then, using her imagination, she would transport herself and Wilma to that very spot.
As they prepared for their journey, Sue and Wilma felt a sense of anticipation, excitement and wonder. They knew that they would learn about new cultures, meet new people, have amazing experiences, and see incredible sights. The Okapi is family of the giraffe, the okapi is often called the “forest giraffe” as it carry’s a striking white and black stripes on its hindquarters and legs that resemble a zebra almost as if he is wearing pajamas.
They also saw the Gerenuk also known as the “giraffe gazelle” with a strange long neck, this beautiful antelope was standing on its hind legs to reach the high vegetation in thorny trees.
They also saw many Wildebeest, with it strange horned, they watched the them from high as thousands was on a mass migration across the savannas.
They also saw a Kudu this is a very impressive large antelope, if you have ever seen a Kudu you will remember them from there distinguished, impressive, spiral horns and a ability to to be the best high jumper in the world.
They also saw a Pangolin at night and could see how it moved fully covered in scales. They watched it feed on ants and termites.
They also saw a Aardvark at night this is an animal with powerful claws and a long snout.
They saw the African wild dog, it looks like its been painted with spots, this is sad one because there is not many of them left in Africa they are the most endangered predators, Sue and her snail friend Wilma both smiled when they saw there beautiful unique mottled coat. they also noticed they work very well together as a family.
They also saw a Serval Cat, this is a cat with long legs, a spotted coat, and large ears, they noticed that this cat is an excellent hunter.
But as they journeyed deeper into Africa, Sue and Wilma discovered and encountered other stories of poverty, hunger, and struggle.
