There once was a young man who lived in a land called Forgotten. He did not remember his father’s name, nor the house he came from. His legs were weak, and his shame was heavy; so he built his home in the shadows, where no royal eyes could find him.
One morning, when the sun was still hidden behind the hills, a Royal Messenger knocked at his door.
“Rise,” the Messenger said, “the King remembers you.”
The young man laughed bitterly.
“Remember me? I am the crippled one.
I belong to no one.
I have nothing fit for a King.”
But the Messenger did not flinch.
“The King remembers not your weakness, but the covenant made long before your birth.
He calls not the strong, but the chosen.”
So they carried him to the palace.
And when the young man saw the King, he fell to the ground like a broken branch.
But the King rose from His throne and said, “Do not fear. For the sake of the promise, I will restore all that is yours.
Sit here, at My table, forever.”
The young man wept, for he still had weak legs.
But when he sat at the King’s table, the tablecloth of mercy covered his weakness, and the King called him “son.”
From that day forward, he ate at the table not because he was strong, but because he was remembered.
