Be very careful as you go through life.
There are people whose presence is essential for your soul to breathe. Their presence brings peace, safety, connection and a sense that, somehow, you can simply be yourself.
And when they are absent, you may discover something you never understood while they were beside you: it can feel as though you are underwater, desperately searching for air.
Some people touch your life in ways you only fully understand after they are gone. They become part of your emotional oxygen. Their kindness, their wisdom, their laughter, their presence, or simply the way they see you can become something your soul quietly depends upon.
So be careful who you lose along the way.
Not every relationship is meant to remain forever. Some people are chapters. Some are lessons. Some are there for a season. But there are a few people who become part of the very fabric of your life.
Do not let pride, anger, ego, neglect or the busyness of life make you careless with them.
Because when they leave, you may discover that you cannot simply breathe underwater.
Sometimes you only realise how deeply someone mattered when you are standing in their absence.
So while they are still here, appreciate them.
Tell them.
Love them.
Listen to them.
Make peace where peace is possible.
And never take the presence of someone who gives your soul room to breathe for granted.
Be careful who you lose along the way.
Because some people are not merely part of your life.
They are part of the air your soul breathes.
