STOP WAITING: CHOOSE YOUR NEXT MOVE
There comes a moment in life when you have to stop asking:
“When will things change?”
And start asking:
“What am I going to do next?”
This is where the entire journey of The Table or the Fire leads.
Because you can spend years waiting.
Waiting for someone to apologise.
Waiting for someone to change.
Waiting for the truth to come out.
Waiting for circumstances to become easier.
Waiting for the relationship to become what you hoped it would be.
Waiting for the right moment to leave.
Waiting for life to finally give you permission to move forward.
But there is a dangerous truth about waiting:
While you are waiting for something outside of you to change, your life is still happening.
Days become weeks.
Weeks become months.
Months become years.
And one day you look back and realise that you didn’t lose your life in one dramatic moment.
You lost pieces of it while waiting.
STOP WAITING FOR THEM
Perhaps the hardest thing to accept is that you cannot make another person change.
You can communicate.
You can explain.
You can love.
You can forgive.
You can encourage.
You can establish boundaries.
But ultimately, their choices belong to them.
Stop waiting for someone to become the person you need them to be.
Look at who they are today.
Look at their patterns.
Look at their actions.
Look at how they consistently treat you.
Then make your decision based on reality—not potential.
Because potential is not a relationship.
Behaviour is.
STOP WAITING FOR THE APOLOGY
There are apologies you will receive.
And there are apologies you will never receive.
Some people will never understand the damage they caused.
Some will never take responsibility.
Some will rewrite the story until they become the victim.
If you spend your life waiting for them to acknowledge what they did, you give them control over your healing.
Take that power back.
You can say:
“I know what happened. I know what it did to me. I don’t need you to validate my experience before I can heal.”
That is freedom.
STOP WAITING FOR CLOSURE
We often believe closure is something another person gives us.
Sometimes it is.
But often, closure is something we decide to create.
Closure can be:
“This relationship taught me something.”
“This experience changed me.”
“I understand what I will never accept again.”
“I forgive what I can forgive.”
“I release what I cannot change.”
“And now I am moving forward.”
You don’t need every question answered before you can continue your life.
Sometimes the final answer is simply:
“It happened. It hurt. I learned. And now I choose to move forward.”
THE TABLE WAS NEVER THE DESTINATION
Think back to the beginning.
The table represented communication.
The willingness to sit down.
To listen.
To understand.
To find a solution.
Then came boundaries.
Then forgiveness.
Then letting go.
And now we arrive at the final lesson:
Choice.
Because the purpose of the table was never simply to keep you sitting there forever.
The purpose was to teach you how to respond consciously.
Sometimes you sit.
Sometimes you speak.
Sometimes you listen.
Sometimes you forgive.
Sometimes you establish a boundary.
Sometimes you leave.
And sometimes you simply stop waiting.
You choose.
YOU ARE NOT POWERLESS
One of the greatest lies pain can tell you is:
“There is nothing you can do.”
There is almost always something you can do.
Maybe you cannot change them.
But you can change your response.
Maybe you cannot change the past.
But you can change what you carry from it.
Maybe you cannot repair the relationship.
But you can repair yourself.
Maybe you cannot control what happens tomorrow.
But you can decide what you do today.
That is where your power begins.
ASK A DIFFERENT QUESTION
Instead of asking:
“Why is this happening to me?”
Ask:
“What is this teaching me?”
Instead of:
“When will they change?”
Ask:
“What can I change?”
Instead of:
“Why won’t they understand?”
Ask:
“What do I now understand?”
Instead of:
“What if they come back?”
Ask:
“Who am I becoming while I move forward?”
These questions move you from victimhood into responsibility.
Not responsibility for what happened to you.
Responsibility for what you do next.
YOUR NEXT MOVE MATTERS
You don’t need to know exactly where you’re going.
You just need to know that you don’t want to remain where you are.
Take the next step.
Make the phone call.
Have the conversation.
Set the boundary.
Close the door.
Forgive.
Ask for help.
Start again.
Write the plan.
Change the environment.
Choose yourself.
Whatever the next healthy step is—
take it.
Because clarity often doesn’t come before action.
Sometimes action creates clarity.
DON’T WAIT FOR YOUR LIFE TO BEGIN
How many times have you told yourself:
“One day…”
One day I’ll be happy.
One day I’ll leave.
One day I’ll start.
One day I’ll forgive.
One day I’ll write the book.
One day I’ll pursue the dream.
One day I’ll become the person I know I can be.
But one day isn’t a day on the calendar.
Today is.
You don’t need permission.
You don’t need perfect circumstances.
You don’t need everyone’s approval.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You need a decision.
THE TABLE OR THE FIRE?
And now we return to the question that started everything.
When life puts a problem in front of you, what will you choose?
Will you feed the fire?
Will you continue with anger, resentment, blame and revenge?
Or will you find the table?
Will you communicate?
Will you listen?
Will you forgive?
Will you establish boundaries?
Will you walk away when necessary?
And most importantly:
Will you stop waiting for life to change and start participating in the change?
Because sometimes the table is waiting for you.
Sometimes the door is waiting for you.
Sometimes the next chapter is waiting for you.
But you cannot enter the next chapter while continually rereading the previous one.
YOUR LIFE IS HAPPENING NOW
Don’t spend another year waiting for someone else to become different.
Don’t spend another year explaining your worth.
Don’t spend another year carrying resentment.
Don’t spend another year standing beside a fire you keep feeding.
Don’t spend another year sitting at a table that has already taught you everything it came to teach.
Stand up.
Take your life back.
Not tomorrow.
Not when they apologise.
Not when circumstances become perfect.
Now.
Because the most powerful moment in your life may not be the moment when everything changes around you.
It may be the moment when you decide to change what you do next.
STOP WAITING.
STOP FEEDING THE FIRE.
STOP GIVING YOUR POWER AWAY.
CHOOSE YOUR NEXT MOVE.
And remember:
You cannot always choose what happens at the table.
You cannot always control who brings the fire.
But you can always ask yourself:
“What am I going to do next?”
That is where transformation begins.
That is where freedom begins.
That is where your next chapter begins.
