Be careful when someone repeatedly tells you they need more time, need to make a decision, need to figure things out, or need to fix other relationships before they can fully commit to you or continue your relationship.
Sometimes people genuinely need time to heal, resolve important matters, or make wise decisions. But if these reasons become a pattern of delay while you are left waiting indefinitely, they may be avoiding commitment rather than moving toward it.
A healthy relationship is built on honesty, clarity, and mutual effort. Someone who truly values you will communicate openly, treat you with respect, and, when they are ready to commit, their actions will match their words.
Do not put your life on hold indefinitely while someone decides whether they want you in theirs. Guard your heart with wisdom, maintain your self-respect, and pay attention to consistent actions rather than repeated promises.
As Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” And Jesus taught in Matthew 5:37, “Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.'” Healthy relationships are marked by honesty, integrity, and clarity, not ongoing uncertainty and confusion.
